Guidelines for a good life...

Dear Chris,

I'm sorry that you misunderstood my stance on religion. I don't go to church very regular, but I do believe in God or the force that controls the universe. And, I do believe that he/it wants me to offer you forgiveness for the rotten way you betrayed my trust.

However, this does not mean that you are automatically forgiven with some bullshit excuse, and are not to be accountable for your actions. I think even hard-core Christians will agree with me on that. Probably all other religions too. You have to sincerely be sorry for what you did. It usually involves some degree of remorse. It certainly DOES NOT mean that you get to keep my film.

With regard to "God", I try to follow some very simple rules for living a good life. I don't always follow these rules, but I find them important when I'm having trouble making a decision. I would like to share these "guidelines for a good life" with you. I hope you can at least start to consider some of them.

  • 1. There is a single all-powerful God.
  • 2. One can't comprehend God.
  • 3. Blame nothing on God. Don't deny the truth.
  • 4. Take Sunday off.
  • 5. Show your parents respect.
  • 6. Don't kill or murder.
  • 7. Don't cheat on your wife.
  • 8. Don't steal.
  • 9. Don't lie.
  • 10. Don't want other people's stuff.

Maybe you can see my concern for your immortal soul? It looks like you've violated almost every guideline for being a good person (believed to be given to us by the supreme being).

If you're trying to be evil, why don't you go all the way and make sure that you're damned for eternity? All you need to do is come over here and fuck my girlfriend, then kill me. That should do it. I want to help you achieve your overall goals for eternity. Let me know what else I can do, I'm happy to help however I can.

I truly believe that "there is still good in him" and "he can be saved". All you have to do is want it. Admit you're wrong and say you're sorry. Don't be such an asshole. The first step in your long path to recovery, is to return my film and say you're sorry.

Warm wishes,

~Vic Tims
