Arizona State University (ASU) "Professor" refuses to return stolen film memorabilia. Christopher E. Lamont, an assistant instructor in the fledgling film department, actually ran away with a private collection of historic film memorabilia which he was contracted to help catalog. Chris is proud to proclaim the property "is his now" and "there's nothing anybody can do about it because my wife is a lawyer and my mom works for the police." ...and he cries online about not having friends!
I had known Chris LaMont for over five years when he came to me crying and begged me to allow him to "help" me catalog my priceless and irreplaceable historic film collection. "Everyone thinks I'm a pussy" he said, "please give me the opportunity to prove that I can be trusted and that I can act like a professional. It would be a great honor for me to show you how much I appreciate you as a friend and everything that you've done for me and my family. Just do this one thing for me and I'll never ask you for anything again and we can get back to work on our film." Of course, it turned out that he is an even bigger pussy that I could've possibly imagined. I gave him the opportunity and he fucked me. He showed how much he appreciated all I did for him alright, ...zero. Not only that but he then sabotaged the film I was producing, insulted my family, and spit in my face. Then he proceeded to run away and hide from me for decades. WHAT A FUCKING DOUCHEY-PUSSY!
"Professor" Chris Lamont, an assistant instructor at Arizona State University and one of the founders of both Phoenix Film Festivals, begged and pleaded with me to allow him the great honor of helping me catalog my priceless and irreplaceable historic film collection.
I wanted to believe that there was a good explanation, so I didn't write this story until I heard what he had to say. It was over fifteen years before Chris came out of hiding. It was almost another five years before I spoke to him face-to-face.
When we were younger, Chris LaMont and I were like brothers. I could not have been more excited when my family decided to move to the neighborhood where he lived. I often spent nights over at his house. We had an old trailer as a clubhouse to get away and "do our own thing". Our time was spent together along with our friend Greg, together we went through all the things that kids do.
At school we were a gang of geeks, our common bound being a new movie. Like millions of other kids, we instantly recognized the greatness of the movie and fell in love with it. For some of us it was complete infatuation. We knew every utterance of dialog, all the melodies, each actors name & bio, and all about each character in the movie.
From the moment Chris Lamont got his grubby-meathooks on my film, he started running & hiding. He moved, changed his phone (and had it unlisted), and stopped returning my calls. It wasn't long before Chris had disappeared, ...with my film.
I couldn't believe he'd actually do it (try to make off with my film). After all, we were in the middle of making a movie, we had grown up together, I had even helped raise money for his family with charity events (including a Phoenix film festival). How can you steal from your only friend?
By the time I was finally going to meet with Chris LaMont again in the Spring of 2005, my curiosity was overwhelming. Chris had gotten back into making films years earlier and yet had never called. In addition he had gotten married and started another film festival.
I spent that afternoon with Greg Wolf. We had a nice lunch near the location of the Phoenix Film Festival. It was great to hear about the things he'd been doing, now married with kids. We spoke of memories when the three of us lived in the same neighborhood and would make films.
I have lots of good stories burried deep back there somewhere, about the things Greg, Chris, and I did together. Perhaps this is even a good story, whether it has a happy ending or not. However, I have a hard time thinking about the good times with the current matter unresolved.
Attention Detective Homicide (Phoenix, AZ):
On (this date), Victor Tims was murdered by his two childhood friends, Chris LaMont and Greg Wolf. The motive for the crime was simple greed. Those two slimy bastards have been trying to steal Mr. Tim's rare film collection for over 20 years and must have decided it would be worth it. Don't be fooled into thinking it was "just an accident" or "natural causes" as some would have you believe. The truth is that they planned and conspired to end the peaceful life of young "Vic".
